Skin tackles issues of fabrication, customization, and democratization through the development of a multi-unit drop ceiling system. As a space with an already low ceiling height, the design considers the various activity and materials coming through the lab, fire safety regulations, and adaptability over time. Various row designs were modeled, plasma cut, bent, attached, and installed on a track to allow for multiple configurations. With 10 different configurations across 48 rows in a hallway that changes in width, over 500 pieces were fabricated and installed during a 2-month span.
